OPEN STUDIOS

Open Studios was one of the best days of my life. It was completely exhausting but exhilarating non the less. I didn't think any of it was going to happen, it felt like so much work but we pulled it off. I sold lot's of small prints and someone even bought a the Barber Shop at Night picture which was a huge win. Being apart of this event was a perfect way to wrap up this year and funny enough was the first time I ever really finished a spring semester (first year covid, second year online, third year strike.)

I now know I think I'd love to show my work more, it was the best feeling receiving so many compliments from so many talented people. I loved the social aspect of the day and just socializing and making connections with like minded issues gave me a massive sense of purpose.

I was in genuine shock when I was called for the David Lanier memorial award. It was a great honour to receive this an certainly will help me a lot in my photography journey to keep progressing and making art. I plan to use this money to get my own development equipment which will likely last me forever. Thank you again David for helping me receive these awards, its a great honour to be selected and I appreciate all that you've done. I am hoping Open Studios was a stepping stone for showing my art and was an incredible first experience in a gallery like setting.
