For my final assignment I want to analyze triangular relationships between the father figure, a mother, and a son. Specifically how the father’s actions can cause ripples that effect through how the son may treat the mother and how the mother may treat the son. This was an interesting realization I had whilst watching death of a salesman and my goal in this project is to have the theatrical of the play bleed through into my photographs.

Kacie seen in the photos is going to be an actor in the final and this was a test. Kacie was in clown makeup as she does that often in her work and we wanted to try it. I brought my set items to practice as well and see how they make look and I very pleased with the results. I am trying to get the Gregory Crewdson look mixed in with my own personal ideas and aesthetic style.

A Normal Family Portrait: Final Project

  Description: This is my final project for Senior Studio I. This project took lots of planning and coordination to achieve the look that I wanted. Taking inspiration from Gregory Crewdson and Jeff wall I combined 10 images to create my final product. I wanted to make a photograph that represented triangular relationship structures in the family unit. This was the final composition that a decides on and felt it represented the emotions I wanted to viewer to feel. In my practice recently I am looking to give a little less information to the viewers to allow contemplation and curiosity rather then giving everything to them. I believe this photograph can illicit many different explanations and that is rewarding to me.
